HOW EVIL UNITED OVER KOSOVO AND METOHIJA

Zoran Stijovic

Washington calling Pristina!

One of the key moments regarding the future of Kosovo and Metohija (KosMet) happened in May 1998. Invited by Washington, an Albanian delegation arrived in USA for talks with US officials. The Pristina delegation consisted, among others, of Ibrahim Rugova, Buyar Bukoshi, and Fehmi Agani. They were met by US President William (Bill) Clinton, and US State Secretary Madeleine Albright. Clinton’s assurances that “the West will not let a reprise of Bosnia to happen”, decisively influenced further politics of KosMet Albanians in the coming period.

In a longer meeting with Albright, an elaboration of US policies and intentions regarding Kosovo were presented to them. The main point of the meeting were US “promises” of help in case of any further “use of force” or “violence against Albanians” by Serbian authorities. According to our source, who was present at the meeting, Albright regretted “the escalation of violence and loss of human lives”, adding that “that is what happens when a war for the ideals and goals of one people is fought”. When Rugova and Bukoshi started claiming that “Belgrade is to blame, and that nowhere in the world one could be called a terrorist, just because he is defending his home”, Albright confirmed, and added that “we knew that one day this would happen. That is why we, Americans, completely understand you and will engage ourselves in pressuring Milosevic in a matter of days. You need to find a way to talk with those Albanians who do not believe that this matter can be solved in any other way than by use of guns. You should have some kind of control over them.” In a pathetic tone, Rugova said that “people are being killed, women, children and the elderly are being massacred. This is apartheid over an unprotected people, and that is why more efforts need to be put into making Serbian police and army leave Kosovo.”

Albright was adamant: “American diplomacy will do everything possible to prevent the situation from escalating. To tell you the truth, it is only natural, unfortunately, for human lives to be lost in this kind of situation, but it will be very difficult to achieve all your goals if you are not prepared for major bloodshed. The USA is working on a serious analysis of dividing Kosovo, but that is only one suggestion…”

Rugova “interrupted” Albright: “Please, such possibility is not an option. There is nothing to be divided in Kosovo, people are dying there every day. I beg you, we have always listened to you suggestions, and therefore you need to understand us. Major catastrophe looms over us.”

Then Albright interrupted Rugova: “If you wish to make it easier for us, then you must have control over those armed people there, because their activities could make the situation with our allies the British, the Italians and the Germans much more difficult. We have exact information that those people, who you claim are only defending their homes, have been trained in Albania and have been killing innocent people in Kosovo. As you know, these actions are called terrorism, and USA condemns such actions. Of course, we can not guarantee you a republic, but we definitely can guarantee you an autonomy, as a first step towards independence, for that we certainly have enough power. Yugoslavia is recognized by every country in the world, with its borders and its Constitution. The USA can not and will not use such drastic measures and provide other countries with an example.”

Ibrahim Rugova replied: “We are aware that without US support we can hardly achieve our goals and fulfill the will of the Albanian people in Kosovo and in the region. But, the Albanians will not be satisfied if they have to depend on Serbia, Macedonia and others. The Albanian factor will always present a problem, until the moment comes and all Albanian territories become independent. We are in daily contact with your informative center in Pristina, we act according to your advisors’ suggestions, and we are thankful to them.”

Buyar Bukoshi joined in the conversation: “The USA is a great force, and by economic, political and even military actions it can solve any international dispute. You should know that Albanians have dignity and that they do not forget to return favors, even for many generations. Kosovo is rich with resources, and I would also say that Kosovo is a very important strategic, economic and political point for the USA, so I think that with Kosovo’s independence you would gain a key point in the Balkans, and also in Europe.”

Thanking for such praises, Albright opened the question of security for the possible NATO soldiers, regarding those Albanians who are armed. Bukoshi answered:

“NATO is considered as a friendly force, and we would only try to help them, there is no chance of any aggression against them. We, as politicians, would also gain importance among the Albanians, because this would mean that we have done our jobs well.” Albright did not comment on Bukoshi’s words. She insisted upon the continuation of talks with Belgrade, once again repeating that “the position of US diplomacy is that Kosovo should gradually become a republic inside Yugoslavia.”

Rugova, backed by Bukoshi and Agani, asked for Washington to consider their determination to stop the talks with Belgrade for the moment “because these contacts will irritate the Albanians. Of course, this pause will last only until everybody calms down.”

Albright agreed, wishing them a safe trip home, telling them that “by tomorrow, I and my closest associates will do everything in our power to help you, and I promise results soon”, to which Rugova replied: “On behalf of this delegation, I sincerely thank you, President Clinton and all others for the unreserved efforts to contribute to the solving of the situation in Kosovo. Once again, thank you very much and thank you for your understanding.”

After the return of this delegation to Pristina, terrorist actions of the KLA were intensified, with attempts of taking control over the urban regions in KosMet, to which Serbian police and army reacted. All over the world, media started reporting of an alleged humanitarian disaster of KosMet Albanians.

Albanian newspaper “Koha ditore”, whose owner was Veton Suroi, had the most distinctive reports. By selected articles, the readers of this newspaper were daily informed of terrorist actions of the IRA, ETA, Hamas, the situation in Corsica and the negotiations being led there. By intentionally publishing this kind of news, an impression was being made that the Albanians are not the only terrorists in the world, and that many other ethnic entities resort to terrorism in order to achieve their goals as well. These articles were enriched with carefully selected photographs, and by analyzing the frequency of certain photographs, a picture of Gerry Adams, leader of the IRA, turned out to be the most frequent one. This is how “Koha ditore” promoted armed resistance and terrorism as a regular way for achieving separatist goals.

HOW NATO BROKE INTERNATIONAL LAW

Aleksandar Pavić

To all those still trying to get at the bottom of the recent US-led unilateral declaration of Kosovo’s “independence” completely outside of the UN framework and America’s willingness to destabilize not just relations with Russia but the entire international order, no document provides a clearer or more cogent explanation of the entire process than the following piece of correspondence.

In a strikingly frank letter to then German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, of May 2, 2000, in the form of a report from a State Department/American Enterprise Institute-sponsored conference in Bratislava, Slovakia (“Is Euro-Atlantic Integration Still on Track? Opportunities and Obstacles,” held on April 28-30, 2000), Willy Wimmer, then member of the German Bundestag and Vice President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE (Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe), succinctly lays out the causes of NATO’s 78-day bombing of Yugoslavia in the spring of 1999, the purposes behind NATO’s further enlargement toward the borders of Russia, and, most importantly from the aspect of global security, the US aim of undermining the international legal order as part of its vision of succeeding the Roman Empire at the height of its territorial expansion.

The conference itself was held at a very high level, with several prime ministers, foreign ministers and defense ministers from Central European countries in attendance, along with high-level State Department, OSCE and NATO officials, and representatives of high profile international NGO’s and think tanks
(see http://www.aei.org/research/nai/events/ ... efault.asp for a complete list of participants and
http://www.aei.org/research/nai/events/ ... efault.asp for the conference agenda), including Richard Perle and Daniel Fried, current U.S. Assistant Secretary of State.

The fact that the correspondence between two of Germany’s and Europe’s highest officials pertains to a conference that took place almost 8 years ago does not make it any less relevant. Quite the contrary. Looking back at the events that have taken place since, and especially having in mind the “Kosovo parliament’s” “Declaration of Independence” of February 17, 2008, and the subsequent lightning-quick recognition of the new “state” on the part of the US and its closest, mostly Western allies, Willy Wimmer’s letter is not just a prophecy, but a roadmap, both of certain key events in Europe of the previous 8 years (expanding NATO to Rumania and Bulgaria “in order to secure a land connection with Turkey,” “permanently excluding Serbia out of European development,” establishing an unhindered US military presence in ex-Yugoslavia – Camp Bondsteel, Kosovo – etc.) and of events (soon?) to come (“undermining the international legal order,” “favoring peoples’ rights to self-determination over all other provisions or rules of international law,” etc.) on the international scene, including, most likely, a descent into disorder on a global scale.

In a subsequent interview given to a German foreign policy magazine (an excerpt of which was translated into English and posted on the site of New Serbian Political Thought, an influential Serbian political periodical -
http://www.nspm.org.yu/Prikazi/nspm_on_ ... wimer1.htm), Wimmer further elaborated on the points made in his letter, revealing, among other things, that the US is using the Balkans to cushion the fallout with Muslim states over its Mid-East policies, but also, following in Bismarck’s footsteps, to keep the rest of Europe off balance by encouraging unrest in that region, which, as an added bonus, is a good way to spoil European-Russian relations.

If there were any doubts as to the aggressive nature of the US-led policy regarding Kosovo (and Europe as a whole), the following letter will almost certainly dispel them. The same applies to all doubts as to whether the case of Kosovo’s secession and its US-led recognition as an independent state represents not just a grievous but a deliberate violation of international law and the wrecking of the post-World War II European and global order.

Mr. Gerhard Schröder

Federal Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany

Bundeskanzleramt
Schloßplatz 1
10178 Berlin

Berlin, May 2, 2000

Highly esteemed Mr. Chancellor,

At the end of last week I had the opportunity to attend a conference in the Slovakian capital of Bratislava, jointly organized by the American State Department and the American Enterprise Institute (the foreign policy institute of the Republican Party). The main topics of the gathering were the Balkans and NATO enlargement.

The conference was attended by very high level political officials, as witnessed by the presence of a large number of prime ministers, as well as foreign ministers and defense ministers from the region. Among the numerous important points of discussion, certain themes deserve special mention:

1. The conference organizers demanded the speediest possible international recognition of an independent state of Kosovo within the circle of the allied states.
2. The organizers declared that the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia lies outside of any legal framework, before all outside the Helsinki Final Act [on the inviolability of state borders – trans. note].
3. The European legal order presents an obstacle to carrying out the plans of NATO. In this sense, the American legal system is more suitable for application in Europe.
4. The war against the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia was waged in order to rectify General Eisenhower’s erroneous decision during World War II. Therefore, for strategic reasons, American troops must be stationed there, in order to compensate for the missed opportunity from 1945.
5. The European allies participated in the war against Yugoslavia in order to, de facto, overcome the obstacle and dilemma that appeared after the adoption of NATO’s “New Strategic Concept” in April 1999, that is, the Europeans’ efforts to previously secure a UN or OSCE mandate.
6. Without denigrating the importance of the Europeans’ after-the-fact legalistic interpretation, namely that the expansion of NATO’s tasks beyond the treaty’s legal domain in the war against Yugoslavia was just an exception, it is nevertheless clear that this represented a precedent, to be invoked by anyone at any time, and that many others will follow the example in the future.
7. It would be good, during NATO’s current enlargement, to restore the territorial situation in the area between the Baltic Sea and Anatolia such as existed during the Roman Empire, at the time of its greatest power and greatest territorial expansion.
8. For this reason, Poland must be flanked to the north and to the south with democratic neighbor states, while Romania and Bulgaria are to secure a land connection with Turkey. Serbia (probably for the purposes of securing an unhindered US military presence) must be permanently excluded from European development.
9. North of Poland, total control over St. Petersburg’s access to the Baltic Sea must be established.
10. In all processes, peoples’ rights to self-determination should be favored over all other provisions or rules of international law.
11. The claim that, during its attack on the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia, NATO violated all international rules, and especially all the relevant provisions of international law – was not disputed.

After this conference, at which discussion was quite candid and open, it will not be possible to avoid the importance and long-term ramifications of its conclusions, especially having in mind the competence of the participants and organizers.

It seems that the American side, for the sake of its own goals, is willing and ready to undermine, on a global scale, the international legal order, which came about as a result of the two world wars in the previous century. Force is to stand above law. Wherever international law stands in the way, it is to be removed.

When the League of Nations experienced a similar fate, World War II was not far off. The manner of thought that takes into regard solely its own interests can only be referred to as totalitarian.

With friendly regards,

Willy Wimmer

Member, German Bundestag and Vice President, Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE

WHEN TWO WORLDS COLLIDE

Leonid Ivashov

Belgrade, February 23rd (Tanyug) – “Recent events in Kosovo are only the results of a plan made in Washington, actually realized by “NATO fascists”, to end the yearlong Yugoslavian drama”, said Colonel Leonid Ivashov, president of the Russian academy for geopolitical issues.

“The region is divided into small, easy to control ‘cantons’. All NATO had to do next is to enslave and humiliate the Serbs by taking their Holy land away from them. The ultimate goal of the USA and NATO is to make slaves out of Serbs, just like they did before with Slovenians, Croats, Muslims in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonians, and Montenegrins. They should all act like some sort of bio-robots, acting on every command coming from the West”, said the former Russian prime military diplomat for “Novosti”.

His opinion is that the recognition of a unilateral proclamation of Kosovo’s independence “will create an atmosphere for new ‘European talibans’ and their radical Al-Qaeda cells to emerge.” “A new tendency in Europe will start - a tendency of uniting between Islamic countries in the Balkans and forming of an Islamic spiritually-ideological landscape on European territory: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Muslim regions in Serbia, Macedonia, Bulgaria, Greece, and also in Germany, France, Great Britain and Belgium”, Ivashov said.

According to his words, “at this moment, there is no country which could defeat the NATO fascists single-handedly, and it is the final moment for those who do not wish to be crushed by Washington’s boots to unite.” “Behind this local Serbian-Albanian conflict lays the conflict of civilizations. Had Nikolic won the elections in Serbia, the supporters of Kosovo’s independence would have their argument.”

“Then, they would isolate Serbia, tying to prove that Serbs made the wrong choice. Now, if one day they actually offer Serbia EU membership, one question presents itself: what to do with the Serbian Constitution, which clearly states that Kosovo and Metohija is a part of Serbia?”, said Ivashov, and then added: “I am convinced that a condition will be made for Belgrade to drop this sentence about Kosovo out of their Constitution.”

“Serbs are being cornered by the super-forces.” There is nothing left for them to do, but to “struggle fiercely and consistently, until Europe sees that it has walked self-willingly into a historical and geopolitical trap, all because of its stupidity, cowardice and lack of strong will. Our brothers Serbs must keep their spirit, pride and hopes high. Russia is gaining strength, Byelorussia stands firmly in the front lines, the Bulgarians are opening their eyes, and America’s reign is about to end soon. America is not just stricken by the crisis in its economy, but by something much worse: they are rapidly losing credibility!”

“Well known geo-politicians are predicting an escalation of the conflict between the Islamic and the Atlantic civilizations. In the end, those with stronger spirits and who are prepared for sacrifices will triumph. That is why, no matter what, I am convinced that Serbs, with their great pride and spirit, will be victorious!”

Kosovo's north to be taken away from Serbia23.09.2011
The European Union is to discuss the situation in the Serb-populated northern Kosovo, where recently the situation has deteriorated. It is not ruled out that, in order to avoid bloodshed, the region will be temporarily transferred under international control. This is equivalent to the loss of Serbia's control over even the splinter of the cradle of its statehood

Kosovo: Why Does The Wall St. Journal Publish Terrorists?Saturday, October 22nd, 2011 | Filed under America,Balkans,Commentary,Ethnic Conflicts,Europe,Human Rights,Latest Articles,Military,North America,Recent Articles,Religion,Terrorism,World | Posted by whiteleejay1
Why Does The Wall St. Journal Publish Terrorists?

By Julia Gorin

Republican Riot

This year brought the Council of Europe’s report on the murder-for-organs scandal involving top echelons of the Kosovo Liberation Army, now wearing suits as Kosovo’s “legitimate” rulers. While top Albanian and Kosovo officials are being indicted for corruption, war crimes, illegal weapons hauling, and deep mob ties, a Brooklyn man from Albania was arraigned last week on charges of providing material support to terrorists and planning to join a radical group in Pakistan — just months after an Albanian Kosovar shot five American servicemen in Frankfurt, killing two. (Which hearkens back not only to last year’s “North Carolina Eight” that included two Kosovo Albanians and targeted a Marine base, but also to the 2007 Ft. Dix plot in which three Albanian-Americans wanted to “kill as many American soldiers as possible”.)

And so one is almost tempted to the fanciful hope that The Wall St. Journal might finally feel a tinge of reservation if not shame about unequivocally following the Foggy Bottom line on the Balkans, which unconditionally implements the maximal Albanian agenda.

Instead, the newspaper publishes the terrorists who won the Balkans, this time “Prime Minister” Hashim Thaci — criminal alias “The Snake.” With no irony whatsoever, on August 29th The Journal treated us to “A Better Future for the Western Balkans,” by Thaci. This is despite his internationally long-known connection to drug- and organ-trafficking, his notoriety in Greater Albania for running every kind of racket, not to mention his intimidating witnesses in the organs affair and ordering untold murders. ( “Cadavers have never been an obstacle to Thaci’s career,” explained Bujar Bukoshi, of the late Ibrahim Rugova’s 1990s government-in-exile.)

Take it from a narco-terrorist prime minister now suppressing the press in “liberated” Kosovo on what constitutes “a better future.” And yet it’s the “rampant criminality” of Kosovo’s Serb-populated north that Thaci wants to bring under his “rule of law” (the “rampant criminality” being a resistance to rule by the criminality of the rest of Kosovo). This is a gangster solidifying his turf.

North Mitrovica is the last part of Kosovo that we’re trying to submit to the thugocracy, and it’s also one of Kosovo’s last multi-ethnic remnants, where a non-Albanian can leave his immediate vicinity without risking dismemberment. Ergo the Serbian “stubbornness” that our bureaucrats — and The Journal — regularly scold.

The 2008 Italian documentary “Infinite War” shows a Serbian monk serving liturgy surrounded by NATO tanks and troops. “In liberated Kosovo, this is the maximal possible freedom for Christians to profess their faith,” narrates journalist Riccardo Iacona, adding that 223,409 Serbs were cleansed after the 1999 war (the number has grown since).

It was done with the help of the never-disbanded KLA, which answers directly to high-level Kosovo politicians. “And this is how they finance themselves,” Iacona summarizes a classified UN report, “by trafficking of drugs and arms, and by extortion…They smuggle oil and practice destruction…Then, there is a list of the superiors of this organization, and the links between this military structure and politicians in PDK, Thaci’s party.”

Albanian journalist Bardulaj Ajeti was writing for the daily Bota Sot, investigating “the relations between the ex-KLA fighters and Prime Minister Hashim Thaci. He was shot in the head on June 7, 2005…[One Ajeti article] speaks about a shadow government, controlled by Thaci, giving names of those who comprise it. All of them are ex-KLA commanders. Then there is one incredible interview with Mr. Ymer Ymeri…whose brother was killed by the UCK (KLA)…[He says] the UCK erected dozens of prisons in Albania where Rugova’s men were being tortured and killed, and Thaci, the current prime minister, knew about it…”

Iacona asks Ymeri’s wife (Ymeri had fled to Germany after giving the interview), “Do all the opponents of Thaci’s UCK get killed?” She replies, “Yes, it’s like a mafia.”

According to a 2007 Institute for European Policy report, Kosovo “‘is a Mafia society’ based on ‘capture of the state’ by criminal elements…[The authors] quote a German intelligence service report of ‘closest ties between leading political decision makers and the dominant criminal class’ and name Ramush Haradinaj, Hashim Thaci and Xhavit Haliti as compromised leaders…”

Leading up to the war crimes trial of Haradinaj, Thaci’s predecessor and also a former KLA commander, witnesses started dropping dead, going missing, or dropping out to prevent either fate. In 2003 two Kosovo police officers who insisted on investigating the murder of witness Tahir Zemaj (found in a well with his father and cousin) were likewise killed and a third wounded.

The U.S. has systematically blocked international investigations and prosecutions of our favored mobsters and has tampered with evidence from their crime scenes, such as when officials from Camp Bondsteel removed bullets from the walls at the scene of a Haradinaj gunfight and then helicoptered him to Germany, denying UN investigators access to him. A British ex-soldier who described our Haradinaj as ‘a psychopath’ terrorizing his own men and locals into loyalty told the UK Sunday Observer in September 2000, “Someone would pass him some information and he would disappear for two hours. The end result would be several bodies in a ditch.” The charred remains of Suad Qorraj, “who had operated a satellite telephone for a rival KLA commander…were found in a nearby forest. The burial notice said he had been ‘killed by Serbs.’”

In 2001, detective Stu Kellock asked for a special task force on a bus bombing of Serbs visiting a cemetery (11 dead, 40 injured). Instead, “‘evidence from the scene was suppressed and destroyed,’” Kellock said in an interview which also quoted Washington Post: “‘NATO paved over the crater on the Nis highway within hours.’ Furthermore, NATO did not share intelligence with the UN police, phone logs of suspects’ calls were hidden in Monaco, where Kosovo’s main mobile operator is based, and the main suspect miraculously escaped from the most secure location in all of Kosovo — the American Camp Bondsteel.”

(Indeed, the European Policy study called the U.S. out for “‘abetting the escape of criminals’ in Kosovo as well as ‘preventing European investigators from working.’ This has made Americans ‘vulnerable to blackmail.’”)

The Italian documentary offers a post-script on the escaped suspect in question, Florim Ejupi — known in organized crime circles connected to KLA and its U.S.-sponsored successor KPC. “For three years Florim remained at large. And then in 2004 he reappeared on this road that leads toward Pristina, wearing a Serbian uniform, in the company of three other Albanians. They wanted to commit an attack and ascribe it to the Serbs. In the end, they killed a police officer of the United Nations. Now Florim is in prison. He was sentenced to 40 years, but he never spoke. So we don’t know who the others were, and above all who gave him the orders to blow up the bus.”

Ejupi served just a year or two of that sentence when in March 2009, as its very first ruling, a EULEX (EU rule of law mission) appeals court released him. The only explanation offered was the Kosovo usual: “not enough evidence.”

Hashim Thaci, whom The Journal sees fit to print (as it did his equally ruthless predecessor and war crimes indictee Agim Ceku) is among Kosovo’s “elite that operates above the law,” as a February Foreign Policy article titled “Thug Life” summed up, adding:

Kosovo’s thugocrats owe their rise and continued impunity to the toleration or outright support of the international community — particularly the United States…In 1999, the U.S. endorsement of Thaci as hero was sealed with a kiss planted on his cheek by then Secretary of State Madeline Albright…In 2004, every American staffer at the U.S. Embassy was invited to attend Haradinaj’s wedding — and, despite his links to organized crime and impending indictment on war crimes, they went. Most recently, the night after the raid on [Transportation Minister Fatmir] Limaj’s home and offices, U.S. Ambassador to Kosovo Christopher Dell was seen laughing and chatting with the minister at a well-attended party in Pristina. [Limaj was also twice indicted but not yet convicted of “inhumane acts during the war.”]

It is difficult to see how democracy or respect [for] the rule of law could develop and flourish amid such overt displays of American support for a corrupt and criminal leadership…The war crimes taking place throughout the 1998-1999 conflict and in the immediate aftermath have never been fully investigated — in fact, in some cases they have been covered up…UNMIK (UN Mission in Kosovo) ran an incomplete investigation into the organ trafficking case brought to light by [Council of Europe rapporteur Dick] Marty in late 2010. The documents date from 2003 — when UNMIK was in full control of the internal war crimes investigations and prosecutions.

As the Italian journalist Iacona speaks with locals who won’t tell him or investigators anything they know about the “unsolved” murders whose perpetrators boast of their crimes, he realizes that “liberated” and “democratic” Kosovo is ruled by fear.

When Thaci writes about the still Serbian north as “the creation of a sort of state-within-a-state…evident trafficking of drugs, people and arms, and daily intimidation of both Albanians and Serbs by private armies who are the only ones benefiting from the absence of the rule of law,” the man is writing about how Kosovo itself was won. A classic case of projection.

He also has a bit of a Freudian slip when he refers to an internal issue “that once again pitted Serbs against Kosovars.” Clearly, by “Kosovars” he means Albanians, tacitly admitting not only that he — a leader ostensibly representing all citizens — does not consider Serbs Kosovars, but that the nationality the U.S. concocted to help wage the KLA’s war for independence is just another word for “Albanian.” It is also an admission of what Serbs and Albanians alike have been telling us: that Kosovo is just one leg of the plan to consolidate parts of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia and Greece into a Greater Albania.
